whhither folder tree

Whhither the folder tree?

I got to play with Vista briefly on a friend's PC. What happened to the folder tree? Navigating in explorer is really cumbersome w/o it.
And is there a way to make the start menu expand out, like the XP menu, instead of acting like I have a 480px wide screen?
Otherwise, I say it's pretty neat. Dig the eye candy, the true DPI scaling, per app vol control. I want my public beta NOW!!!

Hey, they're still writing ALPHA code. It may have a BETA label slapped on it, but it's not in a BETA state yet by a long chalk.

Well it is beta... but in a later build we'll see this returning - has already been confirmed that it'll be implimented. Look at the Sidebar, went away in 4053 and it's back in 5308! :oD

and I need the " Up " folder in Windows Explorer. Having just installed it, I too do find it a bit tedious to get around. ( I came here checking to see if perhaps I just wasn't looking in the right place). I thought that I was in luck when it recognized my Hauppage TV card , but it doesn't work. So no TV in the background ... back to testing.

I rolled back my Geforce 6200 Turbocache video driver - and WinTV is working fine. I had just noticed that the LATEST nvidia download is for Beta2 ( not my 5308 build) - oops that's what I installed - so rolled back. Also, I did notice that I have 2 "driver problems " in Device Mgr - lists "other device" and a NVCinema BDA driver issue. I did a google search and perhaps upcoming Microsoft 'Broadcast Driver Architecture' (BDA). I think it's working fine with the Hauppage drivers but Vista THINKS it needs a TV driver - but I can't find one so just disabled both of these devices for now.

I found http://www.eggheadcafe.com/forumarchives/windowsvistahardware_devices/feb2006/post26162475.asp that mentions - with TV cards - they also got these 2 drivers issues, so I'll just leave disabled and not try any longer.
